How Not to be a Spear-Chucking Network Marketer

Contacting Tips for Distributors

If you are properly familiar with the Network Marketing business model, you understand that this is an efficient way of a strong source of income.  You also understand that to build a strong network takes a continuous search for people to show the business plan numbers to.  This is the strongest deterrent of network marketing distributors lasting long enough to see strong results.

New distributors often count on their family and friends as "no-brainer" prospects that will get in and propel them to high levels in the business faster than you can say 'filthy rich.'  The problem with this type of thought process is that usually the immediate family and friends know the distributor before they got involved with the business and use past negative memories as a means of judgement towards joining the distributor in entrepreneurial pursuits.  In other words, frat brother A remembers frat brother B wearing a dog collar, and nothing else, at that party last year, so it is hard for frat brother A to trust frat brother B with financial decisions.

So after the immediate family and friends' list dries up, if the distributor is still a distributor at this point, that person finds out that the next step is to meet new people, IE. random people on the street.  With this being said, the popular routine is usually the most unexciting routine and the redundancy causes discouragement.  The usual bookstore stalkings and $1 gas-pump tricks can become highly boring and unmotivating after a short period of time.

But meeting new people can be fun and entertaining, at the same time.  The key is meeting people at places where they actually want to be met.  Although these are not full-proof, here are a few places of suggestion:

The Airport

Distributors sleep on this place because of the usual hassles in getting to inside this place because of heightened security.  But rest assured that the caliber of people at this location is second to none.  CEOs, doctors, lawyers, professional athletes and entertainers all have to go through this place of business.

People are often in a good mood because either they are going on a trip or coming off a trip, which is commonly excitable to an individual.  Also, the people who pick them up are excitable as well.  Even people who have canceled or delayed flights can be good potentials as well.  They may not mind interesting conversations to pass away the time.

The baggage claim and lounge areas are the best spots.  Do not go into the restaurants and cafes if your not planning to spend money.  You will look suspicious to patrons and undercover cops.  The plan to is to blend in, not stand out.

Financial Seminars and Workshops

These environments are filled with hundreds to thousands of people searching for ways of creating extra income and just need the vehicle to accomplish this.  Real Estate Seminars usually attract the most people because of the common and sexiness factor involved.

But the common sense factor quickly kicks in to the unsophisticated attendees because they understand that if selling real estate is so easy, how come everybody is not doing it?  The realization of hard work comes into play and, while they may be at a real estate class, the prospects' mind is open to other ways.  Thus, a distributor can step in and plant a seed.

A lot of these seminars may charge for entrance, but there are a few free ones that offer the same opportunistic values.  The "Rich Dad" Robert Kiyosaki seminars are great sources and actually mail out free tickets to their newsletter subscriber base weeks in advance.  With proper planning, one can attend multiple sessions during this 3 day time period in which they are usually held.

Hotel Restaurant Tastings

These are free events that often go unnoticed because they usually are not advertised.  To get access to these events require a person to be on the subscription email list.  In this instance, do not worry about the junk mail advertising factor.  These events are worth a few junk-mail inconveniences.  Not only do these events attract sharp, upwardly-mobile people, but usually great food samples are served.  (on a side note, oftentimes these emails can contain great meal discounts for other occasions)

A great event, here in Atlanta, is a the Sundial Restaurant, located on the top floor of the Westin Sky scrapper Hotel.  Every first Thursday of every  month, the restaurant host this event where local artists display their paintings and Sculptures.  Townspeople gather to view these pieces.  A usual additive to this event are tempting freshly baked pastries.  The vanilla cream struffle samples are to die for.
